Greet Deco / This radial, sunburst Art Deco collection, later named for beloved decorator Stuart Greet, actually has its roots in a commission for the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. in the early 1920s. The building's decorative interior tells the story of Prometheus, with the help of Athena, stealing the divine fire from Helios, the sun god, to bring the flame of knowledge to mankind. P.E. Guerin produced a series of knobs illustrating this tale, with the creation of this sunburst knob representing Helios. The rest of the collection expanded over the past 100 years as designers have remained intrigued by its glittering patterns and substantial proportions.
